If you have answered yes to any of the above questions, you are in the right place! I support people in managing emotional eating and improving their relationship with food.

Emotional eating is a common phenomenon where people consume food not for physical nourishment but to cope with emotional distress. This behavior is often triggered by stress, boredom, anxiety, or depression. It is OK to sometimes use food to cope with feelings but if this is your way to cope with emotions every day it can become an issue. Emotional eating can lead to weight gain and other health problems, and it can be challenging to break the habit.

One of the main reasons why emotional eating can lead to weight gain is that people often turn to high-calorie, high-fat, or high-sugar foods when they are feeling stressed or upset. There are parts of the brain that are rewarded by eating these foods. And evidence suggests that we are likely to repeat things if we feel rewarded. Calorie-dense foods can provide a temporary sense of comfort and pleasure, but they do not provide the nutrients that the body needs to function properly. Over time, consuming too many of these foods can lead to weight gain, obesity, and other health problems.

If you are struggling with emotional eating, there are several strategies that can help you break the habit. One of the most effective is to identify your triggers and find healthier ways to cope with them. I can help you recognise your causes and triggers and help you develop a strategy to break them.

In my clinic, we will also discuss other factors like your thoughts, feelings, and emotions which influence our behaviour. This will help you identify unhelpful thinking habits. My consultations are in the form of talking therapy with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) elements and coaching. I provide a safe space to talk and offer compassionate care.
